Antisocial Behaviour Dispersal Order Enacted in Bath’s Kingsmead Square

Residents in Bath’s Kingsmead Square have recently endured significant antisocial behaviour, prompting local authorities to take decisive action. In response to ongoing disturbances, the police have issued a dispersal order for the area, effective until 12:30 pm on Sunday, July 13.

The order empowers officers to require individuals either committing or likely to commit antisocial acts to leave the designated zone and prohibits their return for the duration. This move aims to reduce public disorder and improve the safety and comfort of residents and visitors alike.

The dispersal area encompasses Kingsmead Square, stretching from James Street West to Lower Borough Walls, and includes the vicinity of Monmouth Street, Upper Borough Walls, and sections of Westgate Street.

Local law enforcement communicated via social media: “Following reports from members of the public regarding antisocial behaviour, a dispersal order has been implemented in the Kingsmead Square area of Bath until 12:30 pm Sunday.”

Chief Inspector Scott Hill, Area Commander for Bath and North East Somerset (BANES), emphasized the community-focused approach: “Our neighbourhood policing team is actively collaborating with local residents to address these concerns. This dispersal notice ensures that the community can enjoy the area without experiencing or witnessing such disruptive behaviour.”
