Animal Farm Adventure Park in Berrow, near Burnham-on-Sea, will remain closed indefinitely after a fire destroyed a large building and tragically took the lives of several animals.
The fire broke out on Tuesday afternoon, November 18, affecting a 30m by 50m structure within the park. Four fire engines responded promptly, and crews worked tirelessly until around 8pm to bring the blaze under control. Authorities have confirmed the fire was accidental, with no indication it was deliberately set.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reported that while exact numbers are not yet confirmed, at least two horses, two donkeys, and several smaller animals perished in the fire.

In a heartfelt statement posted on the park’s official Facebook page, a spokesperson expressed deep sorrow over the incident. “We are shocked and devastated by the loss of animals and the extensive damage to our site,” they said. The statement thanked the fire crews for their swift and dedicated efforts and acknowledged the impact on the staff, who care deeply for the animals.
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an urgent investigation is underway. Due to the severity of the incident, the farm will remain closed until further notice. Visitors with pre-purchased tickets will be contacted directly regarding cancellations or refunds.
