An American content creator, Kalani Ghost Hunter, recently took his visiting friend Chris from the US to the village of Cheddar in England, famous for its world-renowned cheese. The experience left Chris, who was used to the processed “canned cheese” typical in America, utterly amazed.
Kalani, who boasts 3.3 million followers on TikTok, shared their visit to Cafe Gorge, a local hotspot celebrated for its delicious sandwiches. As he prepared Chris for his first taste of authentic cheddar in its hometown, Kalani said: “Look at this sandwich—Cheddar, England. This is my American friend’s first time in the UK and he’s about to have cheddar cheese in Cheddar.”
The pair ordered the popular Cafe Gorge Club sandwich alongside a bottle of “Scrumpy,” a local cheddar cider. Chris was initially curious if the UK cheddar would be different from American versions. His first sip of the cider impressed him, calling it “scrumptious” and an “easy drink.”

Chris admitted, “I thought cheddar was American cheese, one of the things we had,” to which Kalani pointed out the irony: “You’re going to find that we pretty much just took everything from everyone else.”
When the sandwich finally arrived, topped with sharp, salty, creamy cheddar cheese, Chris took his first bite and was visibly blown away. “I get it now,” he said. “It’s all starting to make sense. The perfect sharpness, the saltiness. Creamy, it’s so smooth.”
Moved by the experience, Chris even joked about relocating to the UK, declaring the cheddar “hands down the best cheese I ever had.” Kalani agreed, humorously lamenting that he might have to start importing cheese after this visit because his local American cheese paled in comparison.
The friends ended their visit by praising the club sandwich’s perfect balance and delicious cheddar—the ultimate testament to Cheddar’s reputation as the true home of this beloved cheese.
