Many travelers notice striking cultural differences when visiting a new country, and for American influencer Amber Kacherian, her recent two-week stay in the UK has been no exception. With a following of 396,000 on social media, Amber often compares daily life in the UK and the US, and her latest video draws attention to one aspect of English cities she truly admires.
Amber explains that many cities and towns in England are incredibly pedestrian-friendly, making it possible to explore them entirely on foot. She points out that “most cities can be lived in without the need for a car,” a stark contrast to typical American urban planning. For instance, during her visit to Bath, Amber managed to walk nearly the entire city, even receiving helpful directions from a local that allowed her to “walk across the entire city in 15 minutes.”
She notes this kind of walkability is practically unheard of in the US, where distances between places often make walking impractical. Amber admits she wouldn’t even consider walking to her nearest supermarket back home, describing American cities as “so big and spaced out” that a car is almost always necessary unless living in a dense urban center like New York City.

In addition to walkability, Amber praises England’s “fantastic” public transport system, emphasizing how it complements the ease of getting around on foot.
Summing up her experience, Amber states, “Being able to walk most places in England is wonderful, and I wish we had more cities like this in America.” Her post has resonated with many, gathering over 2,800 likes and inspiring comments celebrating England’s charm and compact urban design.
