Aldi Invites Somerset Residents to Suggest Locations for New Stores

Aldi, the UK’s fourth-largest supermarket chain, is calling on the public in Somerset to help identify the ideal locations for its upcoming stores. The retailer is inviting customers to submit suggestions for areas where new Aldi outlets would best serve local communities.

This initiative is part of Aldi’s continued effort to expand its footprint, aiming to make high-quality, affordable food more accessible across the region. With over 1,050 stores nationwide, Aldi plans to grow to more than 1,500 stores in the UK in the long term.

Recent store openings in Kent, Sussex, and Surrey demonstrate Aldi’s focus on expanding in the South East, but Somerset residents now have a chance to shape where future stores might be located closer to home.

Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK’s Managing Director of National Real Estate, emphasized the importance of community input: “We believe that everyone deserves access to quality food, and many areas could still benefit from having an Aldi nearby. While we identify potential sites internally, hearing directly from the public helps us understand where demand is strongest. Their feedback is crucial as we continue to bring value to more communities across Britain.”

Last year, a similar public consultation helped Aldi prioritize new store locations in London, Manchester, and Derbyshire. Progress from that campaign includes a newly approved store site on Ringwood Road in Brimington near Chesterfield.

Somerset residents wishing to nominate a town or area are encouraged to email [email protected] with their suggested location in the subject line. The deadline for submissions is Sunday, June 8. Aldi plans to announce the selected priority locations later this year.
