Alan Davies, Susie Wolff and More Lead Bath Literature Festival’s Stellar Autumn Lineup

This autumn, the Bath Literature Festival kicks off with an exciting array of events featuring bestselling authors, acclaimed performers, and trailblazers from diverse fields including Formula One.

The festival opens on Wednesday, September 3, at Christ Church with actor and debut novelist Richard Armitage. Known for his roles in The Hobbit, Captain America, and Oceans 8, Armitage will discuss his latest thriller, The Cut, following the success of his Audible bestseller Geneva. He is rapidly gaining recognition as a compelling new voice in crime fiction.

On Monday, September 8, celebrated author Jacqueline Wilson will join Bath-based writer Harriet Evans at St Swithin’s Church. The conversation will focus on Wilson’s adult sequel to The Illustrated Mum, titled Picture Imperfect, which explores Dolphin Westward’s quest for stability and self-identity beyond her mother’s turbulent past.

Soap star Natalie Cassidy will take the stage on Friday, October 3, at The Guildhall. Hosted by Gaby Roslin, the event will feature Cassidy’s candid discussion of her memoir Happy Days, where she shares her experiences of fame, motherhood, body confidence, grief, and the lasting influence of iconic actress June Brown, following her career on EastEnders.

Friday, October 24 brings a high-octane session with Susie Wolff, managing director of the F1 Academy and former racing driver, at Bath Pavilion. Wolff will recount her memoir Driven, detailing her journey from childhood karting through Formula One and her current work mentoring young women in motorsport.

Comedian and actor Alan Davies returns to Komedia on Wednesday, October 29, to share insights from his new memoir White Male Stand-Up, the follow-up to his bestselling Just Ignore Him. Davies, renowned for his roles in Jonathan Creek and his long-standing presence on QI, promises an engaging and humorous evening.

Looking ahead, the festival also highlights appearances by Joe Hill, acclaimed horror writer and son of Stephen King, alongside comedian Rachel Parris, who will charm audiences with a Jane Austen-themed performance.
