This autumn, Bath Literature Festival is set to captivate audiences with an exciting array of events featuring renowned authors, performers, and a trailblazer from the world of Formula One. Taking place from September to October, the festival promises a vibrant celebration of storytelling and culture.
The festival opens on Wednesday, September 3, with actor-turned-novelist Richard Armitage discussing his latest thriller, The Cut, at Christ Church. Following the success of his Audible bestseller Geneva, Armitage—known for his roles in The Hobbit, Captain America, and Oceans 8—is quickly establishing himself as a compelling new voice in crime fiction.
On Monday, September 8, beloved author Jacqueline Wilson will join Bath-based writer Harriet Evans at St Swithin’s Church. Wilson will explore her adult sequel to The Illustrated Mum, titled Picture Imperfect, a poignant story about her character Dolphin Westward’s search for stability and self-identity beyond her mother’s turbulent past.
On Friday, October 3, soap star Natalie Cassidy will share her candid reflections on fame, motherhood, and personal challenges during an event at The Guildhall. Hosted by Gaby Roslin, Cassidy will discuss her memoir Happy Days, which offers an intimate look at life after EastEnders, body confidence, grief, and the influence of iconic actress June Brown.
Motorsport enthusiasts will be thrilled on Friday, October 24, when Susie Wolff, managing director of F1 Academy and former racing driver, takes the stage at Bath Pavilion. She will recount her memoir Driven, chronicling her journey from childhood karting to Formula One, and her passionate work mentoring young women in racing.
Comedian and actor Alan Davies returns to Bath on Wednesday, October 29, at Komedia with stories from his new memoir White Male Stand-Up, the follow-up to his bestseller Just Ignore Him. Davies is celebrated for his role in Jonathan Creek and as a longtime panellist on QI.
Also anticipated in the coming months are acclaimed horror writer Joe Hill, son of Stephen King, and comedian Rachel Parris, who will delight audiences with a Jane Austen-themed performance.
