Air Ambulance Responds to Serious Crash and Car Fire on A303 with Major Diversions

Emergency services, including the air ambulance, responded this afternoon (Sunday, August 3) to a serious crash on the A303 near Stonehenge. Shortly after midday, a vehicle caught fire following the collision west of Winterbourne Stoke.

As a result, the A303 is currently closed in both directions between the A36 junction and Longbarrow Roundabout. The B3083 Berwick Road has also been closed due to the incident. The closures are expected to remain in place for several hours while emergency teams manage the scene.

Wiltshire Police confirmed that one person sustained injuries in the crash. They have urged drivers to seek alternative routes and allow for additional travel time if their journey is affected.

A police spokesperson stated: “Please be aware that the A303 west of Winterbourne Stoke is closed in both directions following a serious collision. Closures are in place between the A36 junction and Longbarrow Roundabout. The B3083 Berwick Road is also closed. These closures are likely to remain for several hours. Please find alternate routes.”

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and consider delaying travel until the situation is resolved.
