Adrenaline Junkie Completes 500-Mile Journey on Stunt Scooter

Harry Jones, a 25-year-old adrenaline junkie, recently completed a 500-mile journey from Ness Point in Lowestoft, Suffolk, to Land’s End in Cornwall on a modified stunt scooter. His mission was aimed at raising funds for the suicide prevention charity CALM.

Jones, hailing from Lowestoft, Suffolk, embarked on this grueling challenge on April 3 and concluded it on April 13. The route took him through various cities and counties including Ipswich, Colchester, London, Penzance, Devon, and Somerset.

The stunt scooter used for this ambitious journey was equipped with 110mm (4.3 inches) wheels, taller bars, and a thinner deck for increased comfort. Despite the physical demands and long hours of travel, Jones maintained a positive outlook, emphasizing that the experience was about enjoying the journey rather than simply reaching the destination.

Having been a scooter enthusiast for 13 years, Jones documented his journey on TikTok and YouTube, successfully transforming it into a fundraising opportunity. His efforts garnered an impressive £2,740, surpassing the initial target of £2,000.

Reflecting on the challenges faced, Jones shared a particularly challenging incident where he had to maneuver a cattle grid at high speed, showcasing the physical and mental demands of the journey. Despite the difficulties, the breathtaking views and unwavering support from strangers kept him motivated throughout the trip.

Looking ahead, Jones revealed his aspirations for future challenges, expressing a desire to tackle the John O’Groats to Land’s End route, albeit not on a scooter this time. The toll on his body was evident, underscoring the arduous nature of the endeavor.
