Caroline Peaty, mother of Olympic swimmer Adam Peaty, has made a surprising decision to stay away from her son’s highly anticipated wedding, aiming to prevent any disruption on his special day.
Originally, Caroline had been uninvited due to a long-running family dispute. However, after careful consideration and discussions with her husband Mark, she chose not to attend the ceremony at Bath Abbey on Saturday, December 27. This decision was made to avoid causing further upset to Adam during the celebrations.
The wedding between Adam Peaty and Holly Ramsay is set against the historic backdrop of Bath Abbey. While the Ramsay family arrived in the city ahead of the event, only Adam’s sister, Bethany Peaty, from the Peaty family is expected to be present.

The family rift reportedly began last year following conflicts between Caroline and celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, father of the bride. Anger flared when Caroline was upset about certain family members being excluded from a party filmed for a docuseries. The situation intensified when Caroline was not invited to Holly’s hen party at Soho Farmhouse, prompting Adam’s aunt, Louise Williams, to publicly criticize the couple for the hurt caused.
Tensions escalated further after Adam’s stag do, when he allegedly received abusive and threatening messages. These safety concerns led to a police presence greeting Adam on a runway at Manchester Airport, and the subsequent arrest of his brother, James Peaty.
Despite these challenges, Caroline recently extended a heartfelt message to Adam on her 60th birthday via social media, expressing hope for reconciliation. She wrote, “No matter what happens in the future, please know I love you, your dad loves you, you can come home and talk to me at any point.” She added her wishes for a long and happy marriage to Adam and Holly, emphasizing her desire for the family feud to end.
Caroline’s choice to remain absent from the wedding underscores the emotional complexity behind the family’s public disagreements and highlights her desire to safeguard Adam’s happiness on his big day.
