Adam Frost on Marriage: ‘We Don’t Want to Cross Her’ – The Gardeners' World Star Shares an Intimate Update

Gardeners’ World presenter Adam Frost has opened up candidly about his marriage and family life, revealing the pivotal role his wife Sulina plays both at home and in his career. The couple, who met in the 1990s and married shortly after, are parents to four children: Abi-Jade, Jacob, Amber-Lily, and Oakley.

Three years ago, Adam made the decision to scale back his professional commitments after being diagnosed with depression and exhaustion. This led the family to downsize from their previous large home with a sprawling four-acre garden to a cozier property, which Adam describes as providing a much-needed sense of safety and balance.

Maintaining a vast garden while running a gardening school had become “overwhelming” for Adam, according to a report from Wales Online. Yet despite his impressive achievements—including seven gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show and his role as a presenter on Gardeners’ World since 2016—his wife remains the backbone of their home life.

In an interview with Yours magazine, Adam said, “They always say behind every successful man is a strong woman. She’s more than strong, she’s a bit scary. The kids say she’s a lioness. If you’re unpleasant to me or the children, you end up with the wrath of Mrs Frost. We don’t want to cross Mrs Frost.”

Interestingly, even in their garden, where Adam is a horticultural expert, Sulina holds the reins. While Adam enjoys gardening with a focus on wildlife, Sulina prefers a tidier and more ordered approach. Adam humorously recalls spotting an evergreen plant he had left untouched, only to find that Sulina had already trimmed it back. “I’m probably the most experienced understudy in the country when it comes to our own garden,” he jokes.

Adam credits his willingness to “do as I’m told” as a cornerstone of their strong and lasting marriage.

The presenter also shared a glimpse into his professional rapport with fellow Gardeners’ World host Monty Don, whom he affectionately calls “The Lordship.” Despite coming from “different worlds,” Adam says they work together “as good as gold” and often catch up with Monty and former host Alan Titchmarsh at horticultural events across the country.

Adam Frost returns to Gardeners’ World on August 22nd, where he will tend to his mini-meadow and create an autumn container display. The episode will also feature Advolly Richmond following in the footsteps of the legendary Vita Sackville-West. Gardeners’ World airs at 8 pm on BBC Two.
