A303 Reopens After Serious Crash Near Wincanton Leaves Four Trapped

Around 2pm, a vehicle veered off the road and into a ditch, trapping four people inside. National Highways promptly reported the incident, and emergency responders quickly established diversions along the A303 near Sparkford and the A371 near Wincanton to manage traffic.

All three emergency services, including the air ambulance, rushed to the scene. Fire crews worked tirelessly for nearly seven hours to free the trapped passengers, finally completing the rescue by approximately 9pm.

After the rescue, the police took over the incident.

The A303 fully reopened in the early hours of Sunday morning, allowing traffic to return to normal following the clearance of the scene.
