Diana Keys, a 65-year-old mother from Somerset, was initially told her symptoms of motor neurone disease (MND) were merely due to stress from her divorce. However, she knew there was more to it. After three years of uncertainty, she was finally diagnosed with MND, an incurable condition that progressively weakens the muscles. With a prognosis of two to five years, Diana’s life was forever changed.
Her mobility and speech are affected, making daily tasks challenging. Yet, Diana remains determined to raise awareness, particularly among women, about this rare condition. Despite the obstacles, she maintains a positive outlook, counting her blessings and finding humor in her situation.
The journey has been challenging, with the divorce exacerbating the initial symptoms. Diana’s resilience shines as she adapts her home for accessibility and safety. Simple activities like cooking and socializing have become arduous, yet she strives to make the most of every day.
