700 Cannabis Plants Removed from Abandoned Hotel in Bath

Today (January 21), Avon and Somerset Police have been busy dismantling a significant cannabis farm discovered inside a derelict hotel on Monmouth Place, Bath. Authorities have established a cordon around the site as they carefully remove approximately 700 cannabis plants along with related growing equipment from the disused building.

Concerns about the former hotel were first raised last week when the building owner found they could no longer access the property. Since then, the premises have been secured and guarded while utility companies have worked to make the site safe.

Neighbourhood Chief Inspector Scott Hill commented on the operation, saying: “Disrupting this cannabis cultivation is a substantial step toward reducing drug availability in Bath and North East Somerset. Our local police teams continue to collaborate with the community to gather intelligence aimed at dismantling such harmful criminal enterprises.”

He further highlighted the dangers associated with illicit cannabis farms: “These operations often involve illegal electricity connections, significantly increasing fire risk, alongside the antisocial behavior and criminal activity linked to drug supply.”

At the scene, a reporter observed officers in protective white suits and masks entering the building, equipped with specialized equipment to safely remove the plants.
