Tickets for the 2027 Glastonbury Festival went on sale this morning, Sunday, and sold out in a mere 42 minutes. Many hopeful fans were left disappointed, with some barely progressing through the virtual queue before the ticket supply was exhausted.
Fortunately, some experienced success, including Jeff Reines, editor of CornwallLive, who shared his harrowing tale of securing his tickets for the event at Worthy Farm.
Reines described the ordeal as “possibly the most stressful 9.99 minutes of my life.” Initial frustrations came from being removed from the ticket queue several times, partly due to his attempts to use multiple devices despite warnings not to do so. While his wife’s device stalled on the dreaded ‘two green bars’ waiting indicator, his phone gradually progressed.

His relief was short-lived when the screen suddenly redirected to a registration page, causing panic and expletives. The couple had to regroup quickly, leaning together over the small screen and struggling with impaired eyesight to enter their registration details accurately. The tension tested their marriage of nearly 30 years, but they persevered.
With registration confirmed, the focus shifted to payment. Reines scrambled for his credit card, buried in a cluttered chair and then in a compact wallet that felt ill-suited to the task. He nervously input the card details, mindful of a recent change of address that complicated the billing information.
Further stress ensued when his payment security device malfunctioned, forcing him to retrieve his wife’s Visa card from an overstuffed wallet filled with receipts and miscellaneous items - a search riddled with more frustration.
Despite briefly stumbling on the stairs during this frantic dash, he returned to complete the transaction, carefully verifying card details and bracing for the final confirmation. After what felt like an eternity but was just a few seconds, the screen displayed ‘BOOKING COMPLETE.’
This marked a triumphant moment for Reines, securing his place at his fourth Glastonbury Festival. The experience cost more than anticipated, jokingly suggesting a need to remortgage his home.
Reflecting on the narrow escape, his wife remarked, “That was close.”
He agreed, revealing that despite the ten-minute window allotted on the festival’s website to secure tickets, they finished with just two seconds to spare.
