23 Fire Crews Battle Massive Blaze in North Somerset Village

A significant fire erupted in the North Somerset village of Langford late on the night of August 14, prompting a large-scale emergency response. In total, 23 fire engines from across Bristol and Somerset were deployed to tackle the blaze throughout the night.

The fire was first reported shortly before 11pm near Stock Lane, resulting in the temporary closure of the road as crews worked to contain the flames. Firefighters remained at the scene well into the early hours of Friday morning, using water jets, hoses, turntable ladders, and breathing apparatus to fight the fire effectively.

Avon Fire and Rescue Service coordinated efforts alongside colleagues from Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service. Their operations were supported by a drone that provided real-time monitoring of the fire’s progress. After intense efforts, the fire was finally extinguished around 7am.

A spokesperson from Avon Fire and Rescue Service shared: “At 10:56 pm on 14 August, multiple crews from various stations responded to a property fire on Stock Lane. The 23 fire engines involved tirelessly battled the blaze overnight. Thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the property was unoccupied at the time.”

Authorities advised nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed and to avoid the area while emergency services managed the situation. Stock Lane, initially closed to traffic, has since reopened. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, with no further details available at this time.

The fire service expressed gratitude for the support from all involved, including police officers who helped manage traffic and ensure public safety during the incident.
