A brand-new pump track in Wellington, designed for cyclists, skateboarders, roller-skaters, and scooter riders, is set to celebrate its grand opening next weekend. The facility, which cost approximately £175,000 and was largely funded by local property developers, will officially open on Saturday, 26 September at Wellington Park.
The pump track features a series of artificial hills and rolls which allow users to gain momentum without pedalling, offering an exciting recreational space for people of all ages and abilities.
Town Clerk Dave Farrow expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “I am thrilled that the town council has been able to deliver such a fantastic facility for the community. The new pump track is a real asset for the town and will provide fun, recreation and opportunities for young people and families for years to come.”

He went on to commend the contractors, Clark & Kent, for their dedicated work. “Their hard work and attention to detail have helped create something that Wellington can be proud of. This project demonstrates our commitment to investing in facilities that improve the quality of life for local people, and I can’t wait to see the track in regular use.”
The grand opening day will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by a demonstration of the track in action. Open riding sessions will be available from 11am to noon and again from 12.30pm to 2pm, with a remote control car demonstration scheduled between these sessions.
Visitors can also enjoy food, drink, and browse through a variety of stalls on site. Although the pump track passed a safety inspection earlier this month and is already open for use, fencing will remain in place around the track to protect newly planted grass. The public is kindly asked to avoid walking on muddy areas.
All residents and visitors are welcome to join the celebrations at Wellington Park on Saturday, 26 September from 10am to 2pm, to experience this exciting new addition to the town’s recreational facilities.
