A brand new pump track in Wellington is set to officially open next weekend, offering free access for cycling, skateboarding, roller-skating and scooting enthusiasts. The track, located at Wellington Park, features a series of artificial hills designed for riders to roll and ride on, providing both fun and exercise.
The facility, which represents an investment of approximately £175,000, was primarily funded by local property developers and constructed by Clark & Kent contractors. Town Clerk Dave Farrow expressed his enthusiasm about the project, stating, “I am thrilled that the town council has been able to deliver such a fantastic facility for the community. The new pump track is a real asset for the town and will provide fun, recreation and opportunities for young people and families for years to come.”
He also thanked the contractor team, praising their workmanship and dedication to detail, which have resulted in a facility Wellington can be proud of. Farrow added, “This project shows our commitment to investing in facilities that improve the quality of life for local people, and I can’t wait to see the track in regular use.”

The grand opening event is scheduled for Saturday, 26 September, from 10am to 2pm. It will begin with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a demonstration of the pump track in use. Open riding sessions will be available from 11am to noon and again from 12.30pm to 2pm. Between these sessions, there will be a remote control car demonstration for attendees to enjoy.
Visitors can also look forward to a selection of food, drinks and numerous stalls to explore throughout the day. Although the grand opening is still to come, the pump track has already passed a safety inspection and is open for use. However, fencing surrounding the track will remain in place to protect newly planted grass, and the public is kindly asked to avoid walking on any muddy areas.
