A 16-year-old boy has died and another is in critical condition following a collision in Taunton on the evening of October 1. Emergency services were called to East Reach at about 10.20pm after a two-vehicle crash involving a car and a second vehicle believed to be an electric motorcycle. When officers arrived, the electric motorcycle was no longer at the scene.
Avon and Somerset Police reported that two teenage boys were riding the electric motorcycle when it collided with a car that had stopped at the traffic lights near the junction with Haydon Road. One boy was airlifted to hospital and remains in critical condition. The other, also aged 16, died at the scene; it is believed he was the pillion passenger.
A police spokesperson confirmed the family of the deceased have been informed and are receiving support from a specially trained officer. The force asked the public to refrain from speculation about the incident and to avoid sharing images or footage from the scene out of respect for the family.
